My husband and I cannot find a name we like for a little girl. We tossed around the names Murphy and Scottie (middle name likely James), but are these two names too of the cuff? Are they cute or will they not age well? I think they’re cute but I’ve also been thinking about them too long!

I think they are both a little too masculine paired with James.

just my opinion obviously but… these names would sound cute on a little girl, but I wouldn’t love them as a grown woman…although, Murphy Brown was fantastic!

I love Murphy for a girl! Ever since the movie interstellar came out I’ve wanted to use it for a girl. We’re done after two boys, so it’s just a dream for me.

I just think this is all the complete
Opposite of fresh or unique.
The hugest trend right now is obvious masculine names on girls so for me it’s
Typical and played out especially with Jamesmin the middle which is one of the most popular ones in this trend. IScottie more than Murph is so cutsey little
Boy. I wouldn’t name a boy Scottie either. Just Scott would
Be more
Mature although likley she use
That as
Her nn if you name her Scottie?

Honestly I don’t think they will age well and sound more like masculine nicknames.

Thanks all! I didn’t realize James was so popular and couldn’t tell how masculine these names would be perceived so I appreciate the insight!

I think Scottie is cute
I only personally know a male Scottie but Allison Kuch/Rochell and her husband (he plays football) just named their daughter Scottie Bee

They are not my cup of tea but I love very girly names. I’ve also known a female Murphy my whole life and it’s just always sounded odd to me. Just not… pretty I guess? I adore Scott/Scotty on a boy

With those first names, I’d go V feminine for the middle name. definitely not James. I would HATE to have such a boy name.
