INGREDIENT NOTES AND SUBSTITUTIONS

Refreshing Gin Mojito Recipe with Raspberries (2)
  • Gin. Grab your favorite gin bottle to make this co*cktail. I prefer to use a dry gin, such as Bombay or The Botanist. If you have any leftover gin, try myblood orange gin co*cktail. If you prefer a lower alcohol co*cktail, half the gin amount.
  • Raspberries.Use fresh raspberries to provide the juiciest, sweet flavor. While I love the raspberry flavor, you can also use strawberries to make this a strawberry gin mojito! Also try myvirgin mojitoto provide a fun non alcoholic version!
  • Club Soda. A splash of club soda is added to the top of this co*cktail once you add ice. Use plain club soda, or you can also use plain seltzer.
  • Lime Wedges. To provide the best fresh lime flavor, use lime wedges in this gin co*cktail. Muddling the lime wedges will release the lime juice, allowing it to mix with the flavors of the drink. Pre-bottled lime juice does not provide as fresh as a flavor. You can also use lemon juice for even more of a twist!
  • Fresh Mint Sprigs. Fresh mint is a must for this recipes! Dry mint will not work. You can find fresh mint in the produce department of your grocery store.
  • Sugar.I use regular cane sugar in my mojitos, but you can also use simple syrup or a sugar alternative, such as monkfruit. If you want a lower sugar co*cktail, you can omit entirely.

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1 - Muddle the raspberries, mint + limes. Add the raspberries, mint, lime and sugar into a co*cktail shaker or the bottom of a glass and muddle them using a co*cktail muddler. If you do not have a muddler, you can use the handle of a wooden spoon. The best way tomuddle is by gently pressing down and twisting the muddler at the same time about 6 to 7 times.

Step 2 - Add crushed ice.If you are making the co*cktail in a shaker, pour it into a highball class. Add cubed or crushed iced into a highball or tall glass to the top.

Step 3 - Fill to rim with club soda.Add club soda to the top then garnish with extra lime wheel or wedges, raspberries or mint sprig.

STORING INSTRUCTIONS

This refreshing co*cktail is best served fresh. The club soda will become flat and the ice will water it down. If you do need to store it, do not add the ice or soda water to ensure it has the best taste.

RECIPE FAQs

Can I use a different fruit?

Yes! I love making this with pineapple, strawberries, blueberries. You can use any fruit that is juicy or fleshy!

Can I omit sugar from this mojito?

Yes. This recipe is sweet with just the raspberries, so if you prefer to not add sugar, that is perfectly fine! Just remember, gin is less sweet than rum, so this gin version is not as sweet as a normal mojito.

What is the best alcohol for mojitos?

A traditional mojito is made with a white or dark rum (not spiced!), but you can also use gin or vodka.

EXPERT TIPS

  • Do not muddle too much! Gently muddle the fruit to release the juices, but do not pulverize the mint or fruit to ensure this gin mojito co*cktail has the best flavor.
  • Use fresh fruit. Fresh fruit will provide the best flavor for this classic co*cktail. Pre-bottled juices or frozen fruit will not be as refreshing.
