JD Crowe: Kay Ivey is on the 'Highway to Hell': AC/DC rocks the caption contest (2024)

This is an opinion cartoon and rocking caption contest thing.

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey is an amazing, prolific guitarist. And lead singer. In multiple genres of music. Hard rock, of course. Metal, obviously. Folk. Country. Pop. Disco. Blues. Who knew?

Thanks to you, she let it all hang out on the ‘What song is she playing?’ caption contest.

I started this Kay Ivey caption contest this past Wednesday on my Crowe Jam newsletter, so my Jammers got a head start. They were having so much fun with it, I decided to spread the love to you all.

Want to subscribe? You can find my Crowe Jam newsletter and all the other fabulous AL.com newsletters right here.

And boy, did y’all deliver. I spent the weekend wandering through and laughing at over 200 captions. Y’all had fun with this thing and so did I.

As promised, caption contests are exclusive to Crowe Jam newsletter subscribers. Jammers will get the first crack at the jokes, and the winnings. The judging process is classified information. I’ll explain it all in the newsletter.

Lordy, a Jammer could score a signed print worth $13 million on the Back in Black market, for cryin’ out loud!

The over-all winner of this caption contest will be revealed in Wednesday’s Crowe Jam newsletter. Maybe. Hey, we’re all winners for playing and having a little fun with this thing, right?

Here are a few of the “What song is she playing?” best offerings, divided into categories and in mostly chronological order of the way I received them. These captions are just a glimpse of the crazy ... no way I could post this without leaving out some worthy captions. Y’all ain’t right. And I love it.

Please, go through these and choose your favorites. Send YOUR winners to me via email. Let’s get this wrong stuff right!
