What are the types of Fish?
There are currently two categories for Fish: regular fish and Ornamental Fish. There are also a handful of Fish species: Rays, Medakas, Sticklebacks, Angelfish, Koi, and Pufferfish.
What are Ornamental Fish?
Ornamental Fish are rarer than regular fish, and are used to decorate your Serenitea Pot. You also won't find these fish in your material bag, because they'll be in your Furnishing bag!
All fish have Ornamental versions, and you have around a 10 - 15% chance to catch an Ornamental version of a fish!

Frequently Asked Fishing Questions
What is the fish respawn time?
Fish take 3 days to spawn. If you've emptied out all of your Fishing Spots, check again in 3 days to fish for more!
You can catch Fish in Co-Op mode!
You can also just visit another Traveler's world to bag some Fish, but remember to be polite and ask them first! Here are our Co-Op boards if you want to make some fishing buddies:

I ran out of bait, how can I get more?
Don't worry—you won't be stuck if you run out of the free bait from the Exploding Population quest. You'll have the recipe for Fruit Paste Bait, so use a crafting table to make some and catch more Medaka.
Use the Medaka you catch to buy more bait recipes from the Mondstadt Fishing Association. Each bait recipe only costs 3 Medaka, so it should be pretty easy!
I caught a fish, but why isn't it in my inventory?
If you caught a fish but can't find it in your material bag, then it's most likely an Ornamental Fish. They show up in your Furnishing inventory, with other living types of Furnishing.
Ornamental Fish are rarer than regular fish, but can only be used for decoration with a Pool of Sapphire Grace or Shaded Clarity.
